September 2017 Newsletter

From the Director’s Office

It’s hard to believe that fall is almost upon us! The upcoming months at The Little Lamb are sure to be busy ones. This month we are inviting the children’s grandparents to join us Friday, September 8th.
Our book fair will be September 6th-8th.  As usual, our teachers will pick out their “favorites” and will place those on their wish list if you would like to purchase and donate to their class. These books are a wonderful addition to our classroom libraries. The funds raised will be used to add books to our libraries and curriculum materials to our classrooms. We hope that you will take this opportunity to purchase these high quality books for your children. Also, don’t forget that they will make the perfect holiday gift. Thanks for your support!

Have a great fall season!

Sherry

Pre-K Stuckey Farms Field Trip
The Pre-K students will be going on a field trip to Stuckey Farms to visit the apple orchard.  It’s a science lesson, outdoor recreation, an introduction to agriculture, a bit of Indiana history, and a healthy snack, all rolled into one. That’s why teachers and students of all ages enjoy a brief trip into the country to see life on Stuckey Farm! The children love to watch the bees in the glass-framed indoor hive, and are so fascinated with the pollination process that they don’t even realize that they are learning. They show them how apples grow from a tiny seed to create many more of those seeds. Another favorite is the cider press and bottling room, where they watch a squishy mess become a tasty, healthy drink.  The play structures will help them burn off that excess energy (for a calmer ride back to school).
