September 2017 Teacher Spotlight

Lynn Wendeln, Assistant Teacher

When did you start working at The Little Lamb Christian School?  I have worked at The Little Lamb since August 7th of this year. I am very blessed to serve God here at this wonderful Ministry.
How long have you been working with children? I worked at Heritage Christian School going on 18 years ago, as a teacher’s assistant in the early elementary grades. I loved working one on one with the students, whether it was with phonics, math skills, or catching up on work. Seeing children gain a sense of pride, accomplishment, and confidence that they can do something they at first didn’t feel they would be able to do is so rewarding! Getting past that fear of failure is a huge step and I love being a part of that milestone.
I oversaw the Nursery class at the church we attended several years ago. My children grew up in this church and I was actively involved in women’s ministries, and teaching Sunday School. We changed churches because of moving so far away. We now go to Traderspoint.
Tell us about your family:  I have six sons and one daughter, three grandsons and three granddaughters. Three of my children are married, and three live out of state.
All my children attended Heritage Christian School, and they flourished and graduated, as well as college.
Hobbies: My hobbies are baking, reading, and spending time with my grandchildren as much as I can. Favorite candy: It’s a draw between fudge and peanut M&Ms.
My favorite movie: I love Ben Hur and What About Bob.
Favorite Music: I listen to Christian Contemporary music all the time in my car, my very favorite!
What’s something that most people don’t know about you? Most people do not know we are a military family. My father served in WW1 in the Army, my brother in the Vietnam War in the Airforce.  I have a son who has served in the Army as an Airborne Army Medic Ranger, he just started PA school. So technically he could be called back in for 3 more years if needed. His wife is an Airborne medic in the Army, finishing her degree in nursing. They have a desire to serve God in the field of missions one day.
I also have a son who is serving as an Airman in the Navy, on deployment in the Middle East. Hope to see him by Christmas.
On a less serious note, most people don’t realize I am a Cosmetologist as well. I currently do not work in the field because of a shoulder injury, but I still take care of family and friends.
What do you love about working at The Little Lamb Christian School? I am really looking forward to working at Little Lamb because I have been praying that God would lead me to a place where He could use me. Where I could serve Him. For months, I prayed and prayed to be lead to the place He wanted me to be. I had faith God knew what was best, but I must admit waiting was hard.  When I realized I was going to be working here, my prayer has been to be used in any way in these children’s lives.  Whether comforting, playing, teaching them to share, love each other, and listen and respect others, I look forward to any role God gives me here at Little Lamb.  I know as a mother and grandmother the importance of giving great support to families who entrust you with their babies.
I enjoy watching your children play, talk to each other, and get so excited when they create something all by themselves and say, ” my mommy will LOVE this!”. That just tickles me! Or when they accomplish something big, that they have been working on (like going potty), they are so happy and can’t wait to tell mommy or daddy! The milestones, is my favorite part of working with your children.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
I truly lean on the verse:
Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
I also love:
1 Corinthians 10:13b: “God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (NIV).
And also: Psalm 103:12
“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west”.

We are so happy to have you on our teaching team at The Little Lamb Christian School!
